The second in our “Big Data” Insight series looks at the German  market – and it’s fair to say that the German Market has been a data rich marketplace for some time. Businesses such as TextKernel and Anziger Datan have been aggregating data for many years. But usage has remained relatively low.

Today, however, as MI is becoming a key part of the HR and Recruiting industry (and as more and more data becomes available as a daily by-product of operations), key decisions are now being made based on “hard facts”.  That said, one key ‘issue’ remains: namely, the ability of many in our industry to interpret the data they have.

In this blog we share some key industry data from a number of sources – and please feel free to interpret it as you see it. We’d love to hear your takes via our social media channels and (of course) via this blog …..

Insights and Interpretations:

  • IT is booming in Germany and, although 2014 saw the lowest yr-on-yr growth, it still leads the way. German companies are actively either recruiting IT professionals in the CEE Region (particularly in Serbia, Croatia, Romania, Bosnia and Bulgaria) and they’re also leading the way in setting up BPO functions in Poland (Gdansk) and the Czech and Slovak Republics.
  • Finance is booming and at 96% shows the largest yr-on-yr growth, but where will the candidates come from? Externally, I predict.
  • Overall the economy is growing in real terms despite the negatives over Greece etc. But let’s look at Q2 and then Q3 to see if it’s sustainable growth.

I found this data fascinating. Munich has been undergoing significant retail expansion and Frankfurt is following suit.

I’d like to thank JobisJob and Tanya for access to Job Market Insights and providing this great data.

Next week, see our third blog, which looks at the French Market.
