We define the CEE Region as covering The Baltics, Central & Eastern Europe and Balkans.

In an ever “glocalized” world where we plan globally but execute locally a good, grounded understanding of the local markets can help at the planning phase of any business critical project and when executing your strategy.

In recruiting and hiring, this is a real truism and being able to answer the following questions will be invaluable:

  • What is my “global” Job Title and my local one?
  • Where is the location of my job?
  • Where are the locations of my potential candidates?
  • Where do they actively look for a job?
  • If they do; where do they hang-out socially online?
  • What is the local market salary for this role?

In this series of blogs our research and media team at Resource Central, in Sarajevo, would like to share some of their own media buying knowledge with you.

In this first article we will provide you with information on:

  • Where prospect candidates actively look for a job online.
  • Which social media platforms are important to the local population in each area.
  • What print media they might read when looking for jobs.

Summary

Keith Robinson founded the UK leading HR magazine Personnel Today, was one of the founding management team at Totaljobs.com and built The Network, a consortium of leading global jobs boards.

His knowledge and insights into the CEE region have come from working in the region (he was a Supervisory Board Director of the regions largest Job Board Group CVOnline between 2005-8) and at Resource Central (Co- Founder) Keith works with clients on media strategies to attract talent.

In the Baltics, Central and Eastern Europe and Balkans print media remains a key  part of the media mix along with outdoor and radio.

Personal referrals is a very strong source of hire across the regions and the referral process is more traditional in that, job opportunities can come via a close or extended family and local through a person’s local “clan” network.

Job Boards still dominate the hiring scene but like other international markets; one or two Job Boards dominate preventing niche Boards from gaining traction.
